Friends, remember when New York Judge Engoron was tormenting DJT in court, as he faced fraud charges, and many of us speculated that Trump would be held in contempt and jailed long before the 2024 election? Well, we've come a long way since then, and by "we" I mean AMERICA!!! Witness the fact that New York State Supreme Court judges today tossed out the $500 million judgement against Trump and his business. It wasn't a total victory, as the finding of fraud was not in itself invalidated, but the extreme remedy favored by Engoron was exposed for the political stunt that it was. Kudos to these leftist judges for doing the right thing/seeing the writing on the wall. It's extraordinary how much lawfare was thrown at Trump leading up to the 2024 election, and it's equally extraordinary that he survived and prospered, and that so many voters stuck by him. Well done, 'Merica!

In other news, the race to gerrymander as many House districts as possible before the 2026 midterms is on, and California appears determined to do its part. We just have to hope that California voters have more integrity than their Democratic overlords.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: A friend who is left leaning , when I praised Trump for his courage and fortitude in refusing to be done under by far left lawfare, said " he's just your SOB and that's why you overlook the illegal conduct which got him indicted and convicted". NOT!!!.
ReplyDeleteTo have been supported by any of the four dept's of NY's Supreme Court Appellate Division (the Judges in which are appointed by the Governor ) is indicative of having a highly creditable case which discredits the trial court's rulings and though the verdict of liability yet stands, casts some doubt on it as it proceeds to NY's highest appeals court. That court does of course receive the Governor's closest attention in his choice of judges (i.e. bigoted far leftists); we haven't had a GOP Governor in a long time. Aaa, it'll probably end up in our lawful Scotus and meanwhile President Trump will bustle.
The Dems remind me of the Confederates after they lost the Shenandoah Valley and President Lincoln was reelected. They knew they had probably had it but they were constrained for awhile to continue in the only hope they had, armed resistance and futile negotiation with a President Lincoln who held all the cards.
The Dems have painfully realized the defeat of their original lawfare purpose: to prevent DJT's return to the White House. Now they have little left of it beyond its tattered remnants , just as Confederate armies lasted into Spring , 1865. And just as Union armies tore at Confederate flanks and eventually their vitals, courts manifesting legal integrity continue to shred the far left's absurd charges against DJT. And this is very destructive of the Dems hopes for '26 and '28. More and more preelection 2016 looks like the high water mark of the America hating far left and their loss there and DJT's glorious return after the 2020 setback marks the onset of the final repulse of their now 60 year campaign to destroy American civilization and "redeem"it with an already catastrophically discredited doctrine.
I'm very glad one of the Justices in the NY Supreme Court Appellate Division made note of the voters' verdict on DJT in 2024. Lawyers are familiar with the established principle of "persuasive authority" ( vs. "mandatory" authority such as statutes and judicial decisions) in making an effective argument in court. I'd say the plainly expressed verdict reflected in the '24 election bears alot of persuasive authority!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: A commentator on Fox noted that the Dems may already have shot the bolt in redistricting. He cited Mass., which has an electorate with 40% registered GOP but no GOP in their House delegation. NY, CA and Illinois show similarly counterintuitive statistics. Why, could it be that the Dems have been gerrymandering with characteristic "by any means necessary" enthusiasm and amorality for some time now?! And that , consequently, they have little room left for further chicanery of this type?
ReplyDeleteThe Dems never expected America to manifest leadership capable of meeting their incipient, surely eventually triumphant , totalitarianism, excused as it is from principled restraint by the marxist doctrine it embraces. They still cannot find it in themselves to admit that they have been shown up for the overidealistic dreamers and vicious bigots they most certainly are and that America is showing them the door.
Darn right, Jack: that 2024 Trumpian triumph was "persuasive" in more ways than one! Judges don't "judge" in a vacuum. They want their decisions to be praised...and upheld, by and large. They don't attack the popular, as a rule. Let's hope more and more lefty judges will get the message that America hates them, and their attempts to gum up the works and castigate Trump and Trumpism are futile.
ReplyDeleteGood point, Jack, that the Dems are victims of their own success: they gerrymandered so completely and so universally in the past that they now have no more districts to conquer... Poor dears! I guess they'll have to try to win an election or two the old fashioned way?
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Well, Texas has done it!. Newsom's reaction reveals some interesting thinking on his part.
ReplyDeleteCan't be that he is concerned with the composition of Texas's prospective House delegation for the sake of Texans. Naw, he wants to see a redeemed Dem House to welcome him to the White House and to condemn heretic President Trump's legislative agenda to immolation and his executive power to spavine by flypaper House Committee "probes" and ever more creative judicial overreach.
As an ancillary benefit , in attempting to purge a Kalifornia House delegation in which GOP is already, ehh, scarce, he bids fair for dictatorship in that setting , an ideal always characteristically sought by far leftists like him. Of course, Massachusetts sets him a standard in this perhaps impossible to attain outside of , well, Massachusetts. Kalifornia does have an geographically extensive , atavistic , down to earth hinterland which in Mass. ( and such as it is) has been silenced. Of course NY affords the country a telling example of how a Dem dictatorship works, although the NY House GOP has been able to make modest inroads which excite the totalitarian wrath of the party of Soviet style AG Letitia James and of ridiculous NYC shill Gov. Hochul. Illinois with its celebrated serpentine House district map also makes sounds about redistricting in order to suppress Texas's blasphemy.
Well, the '26 elections will make the final decision won't they. We'll see then how this shakes out. Can the Dems scrape the very bottom for areas which could ( if Taylor Swift grows a beard) be twisted around a corkscrew to eke out even more Dem seats? Meanwhile, the newly assertive GOP will be doing some bustling of its own in states where more GOP seats are waiting to be freed up.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: As an historian, do you think the doctrinal differences at increasingly bitter opposition to one another in our country can be compared to those which lit off the Civil War? My opinion is that our second Civil War is either very close or is already joined due to the "American" far left's 60 year subversion.
ReplyDeleteOne side has purposed for decades deliverance from a national culture which abhors its principles, derived as they are from a catastrophically discredited foreign doctrine and supported by vicious dreamers. It has not enacted military resistance seeking independence for a geographical section but has instead sought to "fundamentally transform" the entire nation, by ultimate force if finally necessary. Its American opposition has finally realized the threat it poses (it was very difficult, for a long while, to believe that erstwhile Americans could be as appallingly contemptuous of America as the "American" left has more than demonstrated itself to be). is rallying to prevent it (eg. by MAGA, President Trump and his triumphant second Presidency).
Abraham Lincoln once maintained "a house divided against itself cannot stand" in describing the travails the country went through in the late 1850s . Are we living in a similar time? Is one or the other side to win? I think so.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: What a day! Our great President turns up the heat in his onslaught on vicious criminals. He signed an executive order that Washington D.C.'s city government be penalized if it continues its criminal excusing cashless bail policy. He also takes action to direct as many arrested suspects as possible in D.C. into Federal custody where they will be held fully responsible for their crimes unlike in localities in which criminals are treated with unwarranted deference and the law abiding are given treatment inferior to that afforded the criminals who so many Dem run cities celebrate. Let's hope this policy is summarily extended across the country and that localities which insist on turning criminals loose to victimize ever more of the lawful be given good financial reason to reconsider.
ReplyDeleteAlso, he has incurred the wrath of Illinois's affluently corpulent , aristocratically detached, virtue signaling Governor, who nevertheless declares George Wallace like defiance of the possibility that his anarchic flagship city, Chicago, which is very much liable to be the next to face Federal investment because of its utter inability or refusal to direct the main, if necessary lethal, force which is the only solution to its insane crime infestation. Trump vs Pritzker; somehow I think our President is going to get the best of that confrontation.
He also signed an Executive order criminalizing the desecration of our flag if it leads to riot. Good for him!.
It is fully as expected as Groundhog Day that America hating demonstrations feature flag burning as emotional prefaces and clarion calls to anarchy. The far left is completely lacking in moral authority to bleat about this order since suppression of any expression of opposition to their cherished beliefs is their very goal , their present policy, enforced with vicious castigation and personal attack and would be law if they were to achieve the power to make it so. Erstwhile democracies like the UK, Canada and France have already pioneered such laws.
Dr. Waddy from Jack : " Well done 'Merica." I completely agree. DJT's fortitude in the face of hostility and personal ruin which would have broken almost anybody is an extraordinarily fortuitous and unlikely turn for an America civilization then close to surrender to the disdainful, incipiently totalitarian far left parasites which have for 60 years now striven for its destruction and replacement with Marxist hell.
ReplyDeleteHow terrible it would have been had we not fully realized how lucky we were in the rise of this very competent , America loving leader. It took us a while. Like everyone, we were stunned when he prevented vindictively fanatic Hillary from empowering her so long wished for onslaught on the "deplorables" whose unctuous presence she had had to endure in the Arkansas statehouse as the price of eventual totalitarian power. Oh, she knew her caddish "husband" was the key to the highest places and having endured his unctuous embrace she fully expected the fates to reward her. She would have displayed a decisiveness, yes, fully comparable to that flurry which DJT enacted on 1/20/ 25, but in faith to her far leftist convictions. DJT , in a campaign fully as unlikely as was Wendell Wilkie's in 1940, stopped her!
That was victory #1 for him. Still, we might have thought it just luck on his part. As the first man ever to go from the business world directly to the White House, he went through a painful learning process in his first term. And maybe that led to a sag in his support among those who would nevertheless ever consider voting for a Dem.
But by 2024, the contemptuous presumptuousness the Dems had displayed both in supporting a severely mentally impaired Dem President and nominating as his successor a painfully incompetent token, had hit home with America. And what might well have finally moved us to his side was the vicious lawfare and personal attacks directed on him by reflexively vengeful non entities like NY AG James and the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
But he came back, through a maelstrom of lawfare , media excoriation and physical threat perhaps unequalled in American politics. And the electorate responded very favorably to him in the election.
And he has answered that support with "promises made, promises kept" in a resolute manner maybe unseen since 1933. Had America not risen to his finally proven consummate leadership ability and his patriotic intent (obviously, as a wealthy man he need not have invited this "Sturm und drang" upon himself and his family) we would have demonstrated tragic ingratitude and lack of foresight. But for him, Hillary would have invoked a brand of totalitarian control she had dreamed of all her life since her time at America hating Wellesley College. Instead of the lawful Scotus we have now, it would have become an impenetrable far leftist tribunal answerable only to her . And eight years of her might well have sealed the radical deal beyond redemption. But for him , Biden's far left puppeteers might have gotten a four year extension with feckless Kamala as their factotum.
Yes, "well done "Merica' ". You did him and America right by finally recognizing that this guy is a great President in our own time whose eventual favorable effect on America may be incalculable. Its not only what he has done and may well do; its also the far left evil he has courageously stood against.
Yes, Jack -- it sure looks like a race to the bottom on gerrymandering... Pity for the Dems that they've been bottom feeders for decades, and thus we have much more scope for lowering ourselves!
ReplyDeleteJack, I'm afraid I don't know nearly enough about the pre-Civil War period to comment intelligently on the similarities and differences to our own time, but I do feel confident in saying that the differences are so vast as to make any predictions, based on analogies to Civil War I, highly problematic. Our culture is vastly differently. Levels of hatred and distrust may be similar, but the inclination to violence may not be (we hope). Most Americans are thoroughly domesticated and essentially cowardly. This is especially true of the elite Left. I continue to believe that a "soft" dictatorship is a more likely outcome than a genuine and nasty civil war, but time will tell.
The federalization of the law itself and of prosecutorial authority in D.C. is very prudent, because without this change the mere arrest of evildoers would do little good. We're already seeing the benefits of this approach in D.C., but I have my doubts about how easy it will be to extend it elsewhere.
You know, I do wonder what the election of '24 would have been like if the Dems had allowed it to be a "fair fight" and desisted from the 80+ (laughable) indictments... Would DJT still have won, on the merits? I guess we'll never know.
