Friends, this week's Newsmakers broadcast includes my analysis of how Zohran Mamdani became NYC's mayor, and what it might mean for New York State politics. In short, I see a big opportunity for Republicans in the Empire State in 2026!

In other news, there isn't any other news. How about that??? There's plenty of news a-comin', however, especially at the Supreme Court, which could reshape our political system, and especially our elections, going into the all important '26 midterms...

Dr. Waddy from Jack: We can count on any assertion of socialist dictate in any setting to produce historically proven oppression and failure to benefit the "unwashed" its advocates have so cynically invoked as their "flock" . This is beyond doubt!
ReplyDeleteBut, this terrible 20th century confirmed truth may motivate young, energetic radicals to delay their totalitarian takeover of entities (like NYC) of which they have gained administrative control. I mean "why unwisely force the inevitable?!" 33 year old Mandami has decades in which to try to advance his America hating "ideals". And there are many in his admirers who refuse to see the tumbrels being prepared for them by such as Mamdani. He may be able to keep them in check for awhile at least.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Wow ,that article sums up the Judicial stakes in this increasingly apparent possible decisive showdown of America vs the America hating far left .
ReplyDeleteThat radical force displays ever more obvious intent to stand frankly against the America they despise with every fiber of their being. They are motivated by the unprecedentedly accurate assessment of their totalitarian intents unapologetically expressed, in word and action, by President Trump. They must view that as a fundamental threat and one which must be met by tactics not doable by their party's old guard.
Their old guard cannot endure the insolent contradiction visited upon them by Trump of all people! And they may well be on the cusp of disempowerment by a younger and perhaps more patient "Democratic" Socialist faction . Mamdani and the Squad: those youngsters have all the time in the world , they do. We'll soon see; will they go headlong into Marxist "fundamental transformation" of pitiable NYC or will they hold back somewhat and seek thereby to build a national following (not in the American heartland to be sure but perhaps in the cities in which Dem management has fostered anarchy and from which they may think they can rule (eg NYC and NY state).
Dr. Wady from Jack: Re the Newsmaker broadcast:
ReplyDeleteA Senator AOC; in NY state that is a shameful possibility. She is a major part of this far left surge. Our state is the "gift which just keeps giving" to an unwelcoming U.S. . Schumer is probably out as Minority Leader in the near future; Durbin might succeed him but he is old guard too and now under far left denunciation for "caving in " on the vote to end the shutdown.
LBJ was made Majority Leader in his first term. Could a vacancy in her first term put AOC in or close to that powerful seat? Could this far left surge become that decisive? Probably not. . . .
Well, youth is asserting itself politically in a manner maybe unseen since the '60s and it may manifest dysfunction comparable to what it forced in that time. It has already lain a Marxist curse on NYC. Of course the imminent radical outrage to which NYC will be subjected could well remind America of how oppressive the far left in power always is.
Hochul being an upstate refugee denies her the advantage NYC area candidates always have in our state, so she and Stefanik are both"provincials" in that respect. But Stefanik has faithfully represented her very common sense district in the U.S. House whereas Hochul's executive record has been one mostly of far left betrayal of upstate. You are certainly right that Mandami will put her to a test in his imminent "requests" for NY state taxpayer support for his "people's" regime. He may well want a fellow traveler in that job anyway. NY is about to present a sordid spectacle to a watching America.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I agree, this is a perhaps critical time in our judicial history. Since we have a lawful Scotus and since the far left's suits are based on "whatevah" they happen to be "feeling"( oh they may win some, I mean a stopped clock is still right twice a day) I think that, on balance, the cause of common sense affirmed by this administration , will advance. Since common sense is usually based on experience, the experience enshrined in precedent and the cumulative wisdom it empowers, when honored, as it is by this Scotus, most often manifests common sense. That of course is the antithesis of far leftist "reasoning" which is based in airy, and unproven doctrine dictating their presumptions of a perfectly just future. When put into action by totalitarian power its catastrophic consequences historically have disproven it completely. Yes, Marx went to creditable intellectual effort to provide a reasoned basis for his expectations but his views , adopted as they were only by murderous fanatics, were thus painfully disproven! 100 million killed by their own governments were the result of his thinking and its now proven inevitable misuse by such evil idealists as Lenin, Mao and Pol Pot. Who would be as foolish as to give such a deathly doctrine another chance, after hundreds of millions of lives were destroyed by it?!
ReplyDeleteWell, we may have an answer to that in the radical surge in our very America , headlined by the presence of the "Squad" in our national legislature and the election of a Marxist, Jew hating ( remember, Marx was an outspoken antiSemite)Mayor of NYC? Marxism has never before risen to total power in a democracy (though perhaps under Allende's brief tenure in Chile) so these presumptuous "American" Marxists are blazing a new trail.
Let us show them how very much unwelcome their by definition America hating intentions (after all, America has been Marxism's worst enemy internationally) are in a still free America. We can best do that by unrelenting support for a President who knows them for what they are and is dedicating his Presidency to eliminating the existential threat they ever more openly express to destroy all we cherish.
Hmm. Yes, Mamdani may keep his powder dry for a time, and he may be sympathetic to calls for "moderation" if only because tactical discretion may be needed to unseat the forces of Trumpery in D.C. If Washington can be reconquered by the Left, then all its dreams of democratic socialism become infinitely more realistic. After all, SOMEONE needs to pay for all that socialism...
ReplyDeleteJack, I dunno what will happen in NYS in '26, but the recent elections prove that those lefties have staying power, and they're very capable of showing up at the polls. History would suggest that the midterms will be dominated by the party out of power, and we all know what that means. Trump and Republicans will have to defy history if they are to hold back the "blue wave", but DJT has spit in the face of convention plenty of times before...
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Ditto to the max.We of conservative conviction have been extraordinarily fortunate. This guy came out of serious political nowhere; he was even a Dem for awhile.
ReplyDeleteBut he had reserves of horse sense , visceral personal strength and an hombre's understanding of the baloney the far left was foisting on America, for which NONE of us, least of which an onrushing far left which thought it was "just a matter of time" , comprehended or apprehended. And is true of so many good people , it drove him away from that incipiently totalitarian institution.
And he has given us a perhaps unprecedented example of unselfish love of this extraordinarily humane great nation and spirited, unrelenting defiance to those whose presumptuous shortsightedness compels them to offer him the most savage and amoral of opposition. Its little wonder that most of us don't know what canny tactic to expect of him next.
