Danger, Will Bidenson!

Friends, in a sign of potentially mortal danger to the reelection hopes of Joe Biden, an Emerson poll shows him losing to Donald Trump -- and losing even more definitively if Cornel West is added into the equation.  Yikes!  What I'd like to see is a poll giving voters the option of Trump, Biden, West, RFK, Jr. (as an independent), Joe Manchin (as the "No Labels" standard-bearer), or the Libertarian nominee, whomever that turns out to be.  I suspect voters will have a wealth of options in November 2024, and I further suspect that many of them will want to avoid voting for either Trump or Biden, which, I even further suspect, will be a bigger problem for Biden than for Trump.  Cornel West is just the canary in the third party coal mine, if you will.

In other news, Joe Biden is old.  More damningly, from a Democratic perspective, people are starting to notice that he's old, and it's creeping most Americans out.  Are the Dems will to shackle themselves to a corpse?  So far, yes they are!

There's a massive scandal gripping Spain right now, and believe it or not it concerns a celebratory kiss that a soccer executive gave to a female soccer star.  Kissing women on the lips is probably a pretty bad idea these days -- I mean, who can even tell what a "woman" is anymore -- but the drama that this incident has kicked up seems totally out of proportion to the stakes involved.  One wonders, for instance, what the reaction would have been if a female soccer player had planted a smooch on another female soccer player ("consensual" or otherwise), or whether there even would have been a reaction.  My advice to Luis Rubiales: now would be a good time to become trans!

In case you haven't heard, Red China isn't nearly as much "in the green" as it used to be, which is to say that China's economy is increasingly weak.  The New York Times dismisses the idea that this could make China more aggressive...but I sure don't!

Finally, this article correctly observes that Dem/progressive/establishment efforts to criminalize political speech and dissent, and efforts to delegitimize the Supreme Court, are linked.  The truth is that the Dems can toss us right-wingers in jail all day long, if they've got tame prosecutors and juries to assist, and they assuredly do.  Only SCOTUS will be able to inject some sanity into these criminal proceedings and thus keep American democracy on life support.  Ergo, sooner or later, the Dems will have to bring SCOTUS to heel.  Will they play the long game, by gradually replacing conservative justices with liberal ones, or will they get impatient and pack the court, or simply give it the finger?  We may find out sooner than you think!

  1. RAY TO NICK

It does not matter, in the slightest, that Biden is old, or the status of his health, mentally or physically is negative or positive. He was, is, and remains the IDEAL candidate for the DemonISTA Party! The older he gets, the more his "handlers" can control him and get him to do their bidding. That's just an opinion, but I would guess that it is close to reality.

I predict that Biden will "steal" the election again in 2024, just the way he did in 2020. All The American people can do at this point is "gird their loins" and get ready to endure four more years of the same bullshit, piled higher and deeper.

Nothing like Marxism in action, American style, is there? The Baby Boomer Left has come home to roost and rule. This shit storm has been brewing since the 1960's and is now upon us. The worst is yet to come.

  2. Dr.Wadyfrom Jack: Four candidates: one who is absolute anathema to a considerable faction of the voters, two with no chance. Another large group for which its fundamental way of life is at risk. Intensely bitter long standing political polarization. Uncontrolled violence, producing anarchy in some locations. Some creditable speculation as to whether the US can stay together. Nov. 2024? Perhaps; but Nov. 1860 too.

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I read the article. Looks like you see a possibility of a China which is more aggressive in seeking international sway, including perhaps military advantage, due to a domestic economic turndown. I know you have
good reasons for your view; could you give more detail? I think China's main concern is its security from foreign abuse and that any major international policy it pursues has that primary objective. Do they see a possibility of their security being diminished by a domestic economic downturn? Would they see this vulnerability as remediable by being more aggressive in the world?

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Re: Scotus degradation: I do not see either tactic as having a clear advantage. The dems could not have a chance to legislate an expanded Scotus before 2025. If one were established that way we would expect the dems to use their required dominance to give it a large dem majority. But that dominance is obviously not assured. Fate could step in at any time and remove a member of the present Scotus majority for health reasons. Then that familiar 5 - 4 spread probably recurs. That opens the door for Chief Justice Roberts to get squishy. Reelection of a dem President would make incremental transformation more likely. But certain it is that the dems are resolved to bend Scotus to their will by any means necessary. Its only function, they hold, is to get with their program, with obsequious dependability!

  5. Dr. Waddy from Jack: One telling measure of the dems' willingness to stick by PIno Biden is the viability of those who might seek to replace him. Kamala? Not! Governor Hirsute of Kalifornia? On the "face" of it, he would float the imperious dem boat and probably have as good a chance of election as any dem, unless he turned out to be a presumptuous neo Dukakis. Hillary? I think she yearns to go for it; she could argue her near miss in 2016 and would play the "comeback kid" for all its worth, which could be much vs DJT. RFK Jr. ? Equally astounding things have happened but are still as unlikely. But independent? Dang, he is counterintuitively likeable but I think he'd draw off more fringe GOP votes than those of maverick dems. Perhaps Biden- Newsom would be the best dem bet. After all, both Lincoln and FDR discarded VPs. A perceived Crown Prince Gavin would might well assure left leaning independents.

  6. Eek, Ray! You paint a dark and foreboding picture. I'd say there's only a 95% chance that you're right, though. Which means that there's a 5% chance that rainbows will pour out of all of Trump's orifices and things will work out fine. Correction, though: Biden may be the ideal Dem president, but he ain't the ideal candidate, by any stretch of the imagination. Candidates have to walk, talk, and occasionally leave their basements. Biden can win a rigged election, sure, but not a fair fight.

Hmm. 2024=1860, eh? The country may be at a crossroads, in a similar vein, but I question, as I have repeatedly, whether a significant fraction of the country is prepared to fight for its freedoms against the deep state. I suspect 2024 may bear a much stronger resemblance to 1922 or 1933 than it does to 1860.

Jack, I'm not suggesting that Chinese aggression would be rational, precisely. I'm suggesting that an economic downturn would threaten the implicit arrangement between the Chicoms and their underlings: we provide prosperity, and you forfeit all your rights. Faced with unrest, or even widepsread disaffection, I believe the regime might get desperate, and desperate politicians are capable of almost anything. I still don't regard WWIII as likely, but I think the Chinese might want to get their feet wet militarily somewhere, and such a venture, if it met with immediate success, could escalate or lead, down the road, to even greater recklessness.

Jack, I'm sure SCOTUS has already gotten the message: its "legitimacy", as far as the left-leaning establishment is concerned, is hanging by a thread. If I were SCOTUS, and I intervened in the 2024 election in favor of Trump, I would expect there to be a 50/50 chance that it would be the last ruling a politically independent SCOTUS would ever make. All that it would take to sweep them aside, after all, is a handful of thugs with the authority of a president behind them.

Interesting notion -- of a Biden-Newsom ticket. You're right that a strong understudy would make a lot of Dems and independents less queasy.

As for RFK, Jr. running as an independent, you're right that it would pose risks to Trump. I still say, though, that a multitude of candidates benefits Trump. Trump's "ceiling" is lower than Biden's, but Biden's support is softer and thus easier to peel away.

  7. Dr. Waddy from Jack: What happened in 1922 other than my parents turning 1?

  8. Ha! That was the most important development of 1922, I agree, Jack, but the other notable happening was Mussolini's installment as P.M. after a successful campaign of intimidation against his enemies, and the partial coopting of the King and the establishment.
