Friends, there's a lot of polling data right now that looks bleak for the good guys. That could mean we're cruising for a bruising, or it could mean that many of these polls are worth about what you paid for them, i.e. nothing. But here's a poll that has shown steady gains for Trump in recent weeks, and now...a lead! A national lead, mind you, which we haven't seen for a while. Will it come to pass?
And, if there is a surprise Trump victory in the offing, you'll see some of the relevant tea leaves in this fine article by Sean Trende (so aptly named!). Apparently the early voting data is, on some levels, looking bleak...for the Dems!
Arguably, if Trump pulls this off, we'll be in "miracle" territory, given how relentlessly he's been savaged by the mainstream media. There's never been anything like it:

Dr.Waddy from Jack: Thank you for posting these credible and encouraging articles. They are good for my morale. At this point in my life I have finally realized the great benefit to be found in taking things one day at a time. Today I'm happy as a clam over the confirmation of Justice Barrett. What great good fortune this is!
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: A commentator today said this is not a victory for conservatives as much as it is for Constitutionalists. Its both I'd say but I'd also call it as a win for the lawful. Now, instead of the extrademocratic reign of the Tribunal for the Arbitrary Enforcement of Political Correctness we have a Scotus with a comfortable margin of mostly relatively young law-abiding justices. "Well, we WILL put the quietus to that outrage soon enough!" the left bellows. Ehh,that is: IF they take the White House and IF they take Congress and IF they are able to legislate the antidemocratic changes to SCOTUS they purpose and IF it can survive judicial review from the kind of lawful Scotus which is their nightmare and who knows what other ifs these days? Be of good cheer real America. We caught them a nifty one with this, thanks always to President Trump and Majority Leader McConnell for their constancy,their instinct for the main chance and their disdain for Rino guilt. Its not the haymaker yet but we can lay on that big right hook next week!

ReplyDeleteWe also know that there are millions of Americans who are eligible to vote and never do because they believe that no matter who wins, the system is rigged anyway. I have known lots of good people like that in my life. More than one person in that category has indicated that the super wealthy really run everything and manipulate elections to benefit themselves at any given time. I'm sure many of us wish we could get inside Bill Gates head. Ha!

ReplyDeleteI too am chuffed about ACB. The Supreme Court will be much stronger for her contributions...assuming it isn't reduced to a parody of itself by Dem tinkering.
You know, Jack, it will be mighty interesting to see what happens if the Dems pass the legislation to pack the court, and then the court invalidates it. At some point these questions almost have to be decided by force/coercion. What I mean is that the Dems might decide to manhandle SCOTUS and shove their new justices on to it, whether the current justices like it or not. And really -- what are a few people in black robes going to do about it?
Ray, it's true that many people consider voting a waste of time. On some level, I agree with them. I view voting as mostly symbolic and as a civic duty, but I'm under no illusion that my vote will DETERMINE the shape of our democracy in any meaningful sense. Plus, if someone decides that both parties are hopelessly corrupt and blinkered, well, they'll be at least half right...and probably more like 90%. So if anyone chooses to stay home instead of vote, I say: more power to them.
Dr.Waddy from Jack: I was about to say, the President would stop a coup such as that the possibility of which you have offered for discussion. But then, if it were President California, who knows? What mechanism could she employ to overrule Scotus? I don't doubt the radicals would try though.
ReplyDeleteJack, there is no current legal means of invalidating SCOTUS, except I suppose a constitutional amendment, but it's still SCOTUS's ethereal legitimacy that undergirds its power. If the Dems are willing to frisk THAT aside, the world is their oyster...
ReplyDeleteDr.Waddy from Jack: A very good point! The only real executive power Scotus has inheres in the Executive branch. We can be confident that President Kamalafornia would decline to enforce any Scotus ruling which excites her displeasure. Well,let's deny her the VP's residence in the former Naval Observatory; I'm confident her naval predecessors there would find her antiAmericanism disturbing.
ReplyDeleteJack, I would not be in the least surprised to see a Democratic President frisk aside a SCOTUS ruling -- not now that they've trashed SCOTUS itself and most of its members. And at that point we really would be in deep trouble!
