At the Risk of Repeating Myself...

Friends, you may be getting tired of me hectoring you about the need for a second special counsel to investigate how the Trump-Russia hoax got started, but I felt I needed to write another article about the subject, given the fact that, for once, the issue is being taken seriously, and now is the crucial moment when Attorney General Bill Barr just might be persuaded to act.  I personally don't think it's hyperbole to suggest that, if we get to the bottom of the Trump-Russia debacle, not only will we protect ourselves from future hoaxes, but in addition the accountability we would be imposing on the plotters would make it far more likely that Trump will win in 2020.  After all, if prominent Dems start going to jail, that can only be good news for Republicans.  On the other hand, if we let this opportunity slip away, and thus framing a presidential candidate for collusion and treason goes unpunished, well, you can just imagine what might become of our democracy and our country.  I feel very strongly about this, so, yes, I had to write about it once more.

  1. Dr. Waddy: 100,000 dittos! You couldn't have said it better. The Dems have shown not a hint of doubt in their continuing effort to do this issue to the political death of our President and the negation of the 2016 election. Please, belabor with a vengeance (as it were).

  2. Just 100,000, Jack? Why not 100,000,000 (one for every life taken by Marxists)? I jest, of course. Honestly, the ball is entirely in Bill Barr's court. He's got a full plate, but let's hope he finds the time to right the wrongs of the Trump-Russia cabal.

  3. Dr. Waddy: Its time to go for the Dem jugular, which they expose more recklessly every day. The Dems, who rejoiced at the recent politicization of the Dep't of Justice when they controlled it have no moral authority to object to an official investigation of their conduct over the last two years every bit as persistent and ruthless as their "Collusion with Russia" humbug. That, done with conviction and decisiveness and coupled with the Dem's increasingly reflexive and fantastic lurch to the far left, may do them very much well deserved destruction in 2020 (though of course, just like the Dem's onslaught, the investigation would have as its only purpose working apolitical justice for the American people, yessir!)

  4. I couldn't agree more, and I think it is quite possible that a REAL investigation of the Trump-Russia hoax and its perpetrators would plunge the Democratic Party into electoral perdition, but I'm not convinced Barr will act. He may be protecting the establishment, the DOJ, the FBI, and "the system" from the loss of legitimacy that such an inquiry would inevitably generate. For shame. Legitimacy is all in the eye of the beholder, and I'd say we're already running low on it.

  5. Dr. Waddy: Our side must resolve to WIN. Our President sets us an example in this. For reasons I cannot discern but for which I think him plausible, he did not interfere with his subordinates' handling of the Dems' hugger mugger over the last two years. And he may stand a step away from a possible subsequent investigation of the Dems. He may have his reasons, which I doubt not serve,by his lights, the purposes of the real America for which he stands.

Ye gads; I certainly experienced a government institution protecting its interests when I was in the NY Dep't of Corrections! It takes guts to change the inclination of such a bunch.

  6. You're right, Jack -- taking on an entrenched elite determined to ward off all challenges to its authority and legitimacy is not for the faint of heart. Trump is wise to keep some distance from the efforts to hold the collusion plotters accountable, but at the end of the day I believe he must INSIST that a proper investigation takes place. It isn't just victory in 2020 that's at stake, after all. It's the legitimacy of every subsequent election too!

  7. Dr. Waddy: Maybe its a matter of timing; he is very skilled at that. Perhaps at an opportune point in the reelection maelstrom?
