Double Standard?

Friends, many of you have expressed disappointment in Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has so far refused to appoint a special counsel to investigate FISA abuses, the phony inquiry into Hillary Clinton's emails, and FBI/Deep State collusion against the Trump campaign.  I too find Mueller's microscopic investigation of Trump/Russia "collusion" and the "hacking" of the 2016 election, coupled with the lack of focus on the misdeeds of Clinton supporters, very frustrating.  Perhaps, though, just perhaps, Sessions is playing a long game here.  Maybe he wants to set the stage (methodically) for a second special counsel and ultimately hold the left accountable.  Maybe he believes that prosecutions need not come out of a special counsel.  Maybe he's got a slow metabolism.  Who can say.  This article, though, makes the case that we shouldn't condemn Sessions out of hand.  Maybe, in fact, a thorough investigation of these leftist outrages is already underway -- but we simply don't hear about it in the media, because a) the media doesn't care, and b) unlike Mueller's team, the team(s) investigating Clinton, the FBI, the Democratic Party, etc. don't leak like a sieve.  In any case, it pays to consider what this man has to say:

In other news, will the U.K. soon introduce a waiting period and a licensing system for those who wish to buy cutlery?  Stay tuned...

  1. Dr.Waddy: Thanx for "post"ing that plausible article; I'd suggest that another factor in the consideration of timing is the election. The Dems will of course continue to emphasize the Mueller investigation unless it becomes a liability for them. One way it could do that is for Sessions to produce creditable results, either through the IG's report, from his present team or from a prudently selected Special Counsel (though we'll have to rely on Fox and Rush to make the case that he has, since the MSM will poo poo it in any case).

  2. Dr. Waddy: I wouldn't put it past a Britain which jailed a farmer because he injured thugs who broken into his remote home repeatedly (oh and paid for the thugs' lawsuit against him). It follows logically and gives fair warning of what would be in store for us should we give one inch on our gun rights. As many Canadians, Brits and Aussies regularly comment in NRA publications "You Yanks would do best to be fully aware of how lucky you are to have your 2nd Amendment and NRA". They know what they are talking about. If we ever lose them we'll never get them back and the far left will do as we know it pleases. We'll be in London next January. Maybe it will be too cold for criminals. I'll bet they are better spoken than American muggers anyway (King's English, tradition and all, to be sure).

  3. Jack, I couldn't of said it any better in regards to Great Britain. As for Sessions, he is a fine man (being from Alabama
like he is and knowing him personally), as I have stated before, however, the jury is still out in regarding job performance. No pun intended.

  4. Linda, it's good to hear that from someone who knows Sessions. I like him too -- he seems like a thoroughly decent man, and he was the first Senator (by a country mile) to see the potential in Donald Trump.

Jack: I agree that, in politics as in life, timing is everything. That's why I would expect Mueller and his goons to pull a rabbit out of their hat sometime around this November (which is not to say that a bigger rabbit won't come later). As for gun rights, their abolition in almost the entire "civilized" world portends no chance of reinstatement once they've been curbed. The 2nd Amendment fans are right to see this as an "existential" struggle.

  5. Linda: I had concerns about his choosing not to appoint a Special Counsel but they have been largely alleviated both by the Post article and your commendation of the Attorney General and that of Dr. Waddy. I love Britain and am grateful that I live in a land which has her as a mother country but they may be realizing the inadvisability of the campaign championed by Tony Blair to "destroy the gun culture". The American gun culture supplied them very badly needed arms in 1940. We were already tooled up for it, bad things that we are, and they had lost so much in France. Brown Besses wouldn't have gotten the job done against Hitler. Dr. Waddy: Good point about a "November surprise". How the left yearns for that opportunity after 2016. The stakes, already high, may have become critical with the possibility of a Supreme Court vacancy.

  6. Very true, Jack. The Dems would love to seize the Senate, for that very good reason, and only a truly epic blue wave will permit them to do so. They would run a risk in ginning up a Mueller-related crisis at election time, though. Look how the Access Hollywood tape fizzled... I remember thinking when that tape came out that the Trump haters had gotten their timing wrong. If the tape had materialized a week before the election, Trump might have been toast. As it was, he had time to recover. The bad news is that the left may have learned its lesson, and next time their dirty tricks will be more on point.

  7. Dr. Waddy: They are the people who blithely empowered and then forgave the draft dodging, perjuring and probable forcible rapist Clinton and his vicious consort. They are completely bereft of moral and intellectual credibility in criticizing President Trump. It remains then, for the real America to do that if he warrants it. In 2016 we said" He's not our ideal, we know he has sometimes disgraced himself but his known offenses do not rise to the level of those committed, excused and promised by the Clintons." Our trust that he would champion policies congruent with our expectations for a just nation has been rewarded with much faithfulness to his promises by President Trump. Those truly devoted leftists who perceive and are willing to do all to prevail are no doubt fully aware of this and are doing what they do best in order to prosecute their still credible effort to destroy our country and replace it with Marxist hell. But they are only human, they are not invincible, as 2016 proved, and we are by love of country, culture, the sum total of our history and well supported faith that, on balance, the American way is the way to humane civilization, constrained to stand by it against them and their siren song.

  8. Well said, Jack. "Siren song" is a great metaphor, because the leftist message is indeed seductive for many -- and yet it lures them to their doom. Wouldn't it be funny if the Democrats ended up trying to impeach Trump for lying to investigators, perjury, or obstruction of justice -- the very crimes which they scoffed at when Bill Clinton committed them? Funny, yes, but hardly unthinkable. For the left, the law serves only one purpose -- to facilitate the empowerment of the enlightened and the destruction of evildoers like ourselves. Trust me, hypocrisy won't even make them blink.
