Friends, in a development that will surprise no one, America's 250th birthday, and the attendant celebrations, have become a bone of contention between Trump backers and Trump haters. Gee, color me SHOCKED! One has to admit that DJT himself bears some of the blame for this, since he has a tendency to place his own magnificence at the center of most public events. Be this as it may, the dignified, patriotic thing for lefties to do would be to get over themselves and celebrate America regardless of who the current president is. Don't count on it!

In other news, the race for California Governor will be a contest between the top two vote getters in tomorrow's primary. And those two candidates could include a Republican, or no Republican, depending on the breaks. Here's hoping that California voters will get a real choice, and that the GOP will have a chance in November.

Finally, kudos to the voters of Colombia, who gave first place to a pro-Trump conservative in the first round of their presidential election. Colombians have been suffering under leftist misrule, and it appears more likely than not that their long ordeal will soon be over. I sure hope so!

Ray from Jack: My two cents: I think the left is simply going along for the ride and getting a little virtue signaling in too. Gotta be thinking about those midterms . We know what they are all about; they despise America and "consider "250 to actually signify 250 years of unparalleled oppression. How else could anyone with a vestige of a mind actually think Marxism to be the redeeming doctrine? Many of the leaders and their close cadre don't though; they know full well they can use it to convince half educated striplings and unreformed revolution junkies to enlist in armies of utterly bigoted worker ants and send them into the streets. They think they can thereby acquire totalitarian power with all its voluptuous delights; they know such rewards were claimed by Madame Mao, the porcine Korean Kim "family", Daniel Ortega with his fashionable NYC booty, Stalin with his many "dachas" ( one for each mood I suppose) and cynical Brezhnev with his one hundred deliberately unRussian cars. That's all they want. The worker ants are of course then kept in close thrall, lest they get uppity .

Its simply a sly hombre player toying with them. Why? For fun and for the satisfaction of "playing" people who have done him and his family profound wrong. Let 'em squirm! ReplyDeleteIts best to keep that in mind when we see phenomena like the present "American" far left onslaught on our dutiful Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officers. The attempted investment by vicious thugs of an ICE detention center for illegal immigrants in Newark , N.J. is the latest telling example of that far left's destructive intent.
As is usual, when they identify for themselves a location from which they can derive maximum attention they call in the storm troops. These consist of very professionally recruited , coordinated , funded and directed violent hordes (some of whom , in this example , traveled from as far as the "left coast - far leftist subjected CA, Oregon and ironically named Washington).
The U.S.may be the only country not only to tolerate such highly organized domestic efforts to, well, destroy it, but has in many "compassionate" settings like some wonderful storefront optional staff attendance "community organizing centers" actually financed groups which hatefully seek its destruction and conversion to Marxist subjugation.
Under President Trump's leadership ,American awareness of such cynically subversive , hate dominated strategy on the part of "American "radicals has increased. Our heightened perception of this profound domestic threat to all we cherish is an advantage for which it is vital that we follow through, lest we become another ( and the most unlikely) of those peoples who too late realized their terrible danger.
I don't begrudge DJT the right to needle the Left (and the pleasure he derives from doing so), but it's always a question of timing and degree. Arguably, our nation's 250th birthday is a moment when our partisan divisions ought to be put aside, and we should all focus on the vast amount that we have in common (like, for instance, our good fortune in living here). But, in all likelihood, even if Trump tried to be the bigger man and thus more inclusive/conciliatory, it wouldn't work. Most lefties won't listen to him long enough to be conciliated. Their reaction is visceral, not rational -- so, in other words, the words that come out of his mouth are irrelevant to how most people FEEL about what he's said.
