Of Paramount Importance

Friends, if there's one thing that could move the dial in America's culture wars, and its partisan struggles, it's the balance of power in the media and on social media.  If some of the big arbiters of our national conversation were to change hands -- like, say, the major TV networks, or the Hollywood studios, or Google, or Apple, or Meta -- then the nature of our culture and our politics might meaningfully shift.  A single election victory, by contrast, shifts nothing, fundamentally.  That's why Netflix's retreat from its purchase of Warner Bros. is so significant, and Paramount's victory is so portentous.  This means that the Trump-friendly Ellisons will have a seat at the table in Hollywood, and therefore in our popular culture, AND they will now be in control of CNN, which, although its viewership is small, still exercises an important influence over the news and those who consume it vocariously as well as sporadically.  I have high hopes that the Ellisons will use their newfound power to make America, well, greater than it's been, if not necessarily as great as Trump and Trump supporters had in mind.  We shouldn't get carried away about what this all means, because so far CBS, which is already part of Paramount, hasn't exactly prostrated itself before the MAGA movement.  Progress might be slow, therefore, but every little bit helps!

In other news, Bill Clinton testified before a House panel today about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.  According to him, he did nothing wrong, and he saw nothing scandalous or illegal either.  Well, that was predictable!   Is Slick Willy a credible witness?  You can decide that for yourself, but the truth is that there has never been proof that any prominent American politician went on a pedophilic spree on Epstein island, and, if the evidence hasn't materialized by now, it probably never will.  But hey, by all means, let's fixate on Epstein for another few years...  It's not like the Democrats will let us forget about it, even if we might want to.

  1. Dr. Waddy from Jack: You made a good point about a lack of , after all, indispensable evidence of any prominent American having sampled Epstein's forbidden "wares". As a matter of proven routine course , should the far left/Dems take the House we will no doubt be treated to an exhaustive effort to find any reason, however evanescent, of our present President's culpability for such anathema.

Its becoming obvious that Epstein was a very effective "player" and excelled at amoral manipulation of his jet set connections and cynical working relationships. He appears to have been an all purpose power broker privy to very consequential information.

Was he playing the slippery Clintons, exchanging consequential "tit for tat" as it were? Or were the Clinton's playing him? After all, that morally disabled couple might have rationalized (that is if conscience moved them at all in their rarefied setting)that Presidents , of necessity, often sit down cordially with monsters.

We have seen ample evidence that Slick Willy was attracted to "no count wimmin"; he apparently mistakenly presumed Paula Jones was one. Seems highly likely that Hillary knew all about his randy avocations; her supposed lamp throwing indignation at him for the Lewinsky episode appears to have been mainly because he recklessly hazarded it becoming a public issue. It seems highly unlikely that he and Epstein stuck only to mundane matters of high consideration in their many obviously recreational tete a tetes .

Gee, both of them may really be fibbing when they say they knew nothing of Epstein's warped proclivities.

  2. RAY TO DR. WADDY

The only person going to prison for the Epstein Island escapades is already in prison, and she is not going to say anything, ever, if she values her life. Years from now, the pastry chef on the island will write his memoirs, and the truth will be revealed.

  3. RAY TO DR. WADDY

Is Slick Willy, Jack Woltz, or Monica involved in this entertainment merger in any way? Hopefully not, so The Seven Mountains Mandate people can make some money.

  5. True, Jack: the Clintons' legendary appetite for power may be enough, in itself, to explain their association with Epstein. He was, after all, a big supporter of Democrats!

Ray, "the truth", when it is revealed about Epstein, will be so buried in a sea of lies that no one will recognize it. Not even the pastry chef.

No Clinton or Obama will profit from Paramount's acquisition of Warner Bros., I daresay, but will the GOP or Trump? We can't discount the possibility that the Ellisons are playing Trump, rather than the other way around.

  6. Dr. Waddy from Jack: True, power may have been the Clinton's main motive but when "quittin time " was nigh I'm sure Slick Willy and Epstein got down to cases. Hillary probably was very absent then .

  7. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Re the Paramount acquisition : do you hear them? The faint sounds of initial cracking in the shameful structure of the amoral far left 's cynically leering and purposeful debauching of our culture ? First Fox, then the Washington Post . . . maybe, just maybe , America has gotten fed up with their sybaritic disdain for us and as redeeming alternatives prove viable, is rising up against it.

  8. Jack, if Clinton got wet and wild on Epstein island, then why have none of the Epstein "survivors" accused him of misdeeds?

  9. Dr. Waddy from Jack: That is a solid argument that Clinton did not directly sample Epstein's wares. But that Epstein did not afford him titillating description and illustration of the goings on is hard for me to accept. And Slick Willy's ardent protestation of undoubted moral indignation on his part, had he known, is completely discredited by his proven past behavior, I think.

  10. Jack, all things are possible. I mean, technically it's possible that Bill Clinton is a virgin. I wouldn't bet on it, but hey...
