Friends, today marks the return of the illustrious Dr. Waddy on the Newsmaker Show, which means once again your lives are worth living!!! This week Brian and I break down what's likely to happen in Congress as the struggle over the certification of Biden's "win" unfolds. Republicans will be in an uncomfortable position. Many are happy to see Trump "lose", and have no urge to contest his "loss", but nonetheless will feel extreme pressure from the GOP base to stand with Trump. Make no mistake -- many a political career will be made or unmade on the floor of Congress on this very day. Perhaps no one is in a more precarious position than Mike Pence, who is called upon to preside over the tabulation of what most Republicans consider to be fraudulent results. How will he handle that responsibility? We shall see. NY Congressman Tom Reed is also on the "hot seat". He seems determined to take Biden's "win" in stride, but many of his constituents are fit to be tied. To object, or not to object -- that is the question. It will make or break dozens of Republicans, for better or for ill.
In addition to considering all this breaking news on the electoral front, Brian and I also delve into some history: George W. Bush's "contested" victory in the 2000 presidential election, the My Lai "Massacre" and the smearing of the U.S. and South Vietnamese militaries by "anti-war" leftists, and FDR's championing of the "Four Freedoms," which had some decidedly socialistic overtones.
Tune in and enjoy!

Dr. Nick
ReplyDeleteWhat happened today when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol and entered the House Chamber guarantees that Biden will be inaugurated on January 20, 2021. Sorry, but Trump stirred this crowd up and they violated the law by doing what they did. Their actions placed allegations of election fraud on the back burner. They also handed the media the perfect excuse to blast Trump and accuse him of instigating this breach of public law. It is one thing to march to the Capitol building and protest, but to break through barriers and invade Congress is quite another. What these protesters have done is set the pro-Trump and Republican cause back, a lot. Things got way out of control, and now The American people will have to endure four years of a Biden/Harris administration like it or not.
100% correct.
DeleteOh, I be to differ...I think you will find that it was Antifa ---anyways, when I first heard of this I thought, "Vive la révolution" (yes, I know, its French). About time, what did you (theory) think was going to happen? Seriously. 70+ million feel robbed. And finally, true colors have been shown on both sides. Shameful.
ReplyDeletePence ended up backstabbing the President and also it is coming out that he and congress called the National Guard in, NOT the president. So, the VP is a traitor, just as I thought.
I will agree, Ray, this has set us back. But, we all knew it would. I bet Rod is laughing now.
I will take a listen on Friday, Dr. Waddy and hopefully have a more educated comment, right now, I am really ticked off that the police shot an unarmed protestor in the Peoples House, in.the.People's.House.Let that sink in. This is NOT China! We don't shoot our people.
OK Ray, I know you will have a comment now, grin.
Linda,
DeleteIt would have been far better if Trump had not made his speech today. I really wish he had been out of town playing golf in Florida, seriously.
What has happened is that he did get a lot of people excited with his speech, and more than a few violated the law by breaking through barriers, and entering the House Chamber.
What matters is that Trump set himself up as the one who instigated this incident by his speech. What he said after the incident does not matter. He and his Republican movement have played into the hands of the enemy. Antifa could have infiltrated, but IT DOES NOT MATTER, because the incident followed Trump's speech, so he will be blamed for causing it.
Is my point coming through? I hope so. Also, I heard us Republicans lost control of The Senate. So now what. Don't tell me that things will be turned around in the 2022 elections. The Demonistas already are planning to make sure that those elections are rigged also.
This country really is F.U.B.A.R. now!
Linda, you are delusional. This was not AntiFa -- these were Trumpsters.
DeletePence did what he was legally bound to do, unlike his boss who stirred up his band of domestic terrorists to storm the Capitol.
Thank goodness the National Guard was finally called. Four dead people was tragic enough.
Delusional? You might want to check out the news stories coming out. But, I bet you won't.
Delete++BEG NOT BE. geesh.
ReplyDeleteLinda,
DeleteHope you are not planning to vote in the future. If so, all you are going to get is THE DEMO PUBLICANS, at any level, local state or federal. Now that you have seen all of the defections from what the Republicans are supposed to stand for, you probably realize that they are the same breed of cat as the Democrats. So why not call them DEMO PUBLICANS. The difference between these two "ruling" parties is the difference between Tweedy dum and Tweedy dee isn't it?
No matter what happens now, WELCOME TO THE FUTURE "GRINGO BANANA REPUBLIC OF NORTE AMERICA"! And with the BidenISTAS about to take office officially, this will be possible. Spanish is already a second language here anyway, and with open borders under El Presidente Biden we can indeed become another Banana Republic.

ReplyDeleteSo, Dr. Waddy, were you proud of Trump and his band of domestic terrorists when they stormed the Capitol, and four people died?
ReplyDeleteRod, are you proud that a Fed. Gvt. official shot an unarmed 14 year Air force Veteran /woman and killed her? That is very disturbing--especially at the People's House...but I suppose that is ok, right? Also, Rod, it just wasn't Trump and his band of merry domestic terrorists, it was Antifa who also partook.
DeleteLinda, there is absolutely no evidence that AntiFa was involved.
DeleteThe shooting of the woman was tragic. I am interested in finding out what exactly happened that led to her death.
My new names for our ruling political parties are The DEMOCRAZY PARTY and The REPOOPLICAN PARTY. Working together, they will make sure that this country makes the transition to Socialism in an orderly and timely manner. Nothing like those two teams of power addicts working together in DC to make sure they keep their power and perks. Business must go on as usual. The deplorable masses must learn to obey.
ReplyDeleteTrump made a GIANT MISTAKE yesterday by giving a speech to his supporters. They might have done what they did anyway even without his speech. A minority of them breeched the barriers, but all will be blamed. There may have been some Antifa sneakers involved, although I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteWhat has happened is that Trump supporters (guilty or not) have LOST all legitimacy as a distinct movement. Don't doubt for a second that the vindictive Leftists will actually try to imprison Trump at some point in the near future. TRUMP SHOULD NEVER HAVE GIVEN HIS SPEECH. There was no need for him to do it.
What happened yesterday guaranteed that Biden would be declared the winner, no matter what allegations of election fraud, real or imagined. The Left now has complete control of the government, and Trump's speech and the incidents that occurred in the aftermath of his speech gave it to them.
Ray and Kenny are right: the "storming" of the Capitol (funny how leftists never "storm" anything...) will indeed set back the conservative, Trumpian movement. And yet, I wouldn't declare conservatism or Trumpism "dead" just yet. Time and again we've been told that Trump's actions were the "last straw". They never have been, as far as his supporters are concerned. Yes, Trump bears some responsibility for what happened yesterday, but equally many Dems bear responsibility for aiding and abetting the rioting that took place last summer...but did Dems ever pay a price for that politically? Not that you'd notice. Trump CAN bounce back from this, believe it or not.
ReplyDeleteLinda, you're right that the anger of Trumpers had to boil over somewhere, somehow. The Capitol was a logical place, and Jan. 6th was a logical day. Had the Capitol Police merely held the line, we'd be having a very different conversation today. Anyway, as I argued in my post minutes ago, violence just doesn't accrue to the political advantage of right-wingers...ever. Media bias ensures that, whenever we violate the law, we will be portrayed as barbarians. In the short term, that's what will happen here. I guess one upside is that, for once, our lawmakers are showing some appreciation for law enforcement!
Politically, the good news is that the American people have short memories. Once Biden is President, all the craziness of the last few months will be quickly forgotten. Maybe Trump will go off and play golf. In any event, it will be Biden on the "hot seat" soon enough.
Ray, we could do worse than become a carbon copy of a Latin American country. The right thrives in some of those countries, remember. Bolsonaro for U.S. President? Hmm.
Rod, no, I'm not proud of the people who stormed the Capitol, but I would point out that, by CNN standards, yesterday's demonstrations were "mostly peaceful"! Yes, some Trumpers marched through the "People's House", but they didn't burn it down, they didn't steal the silverware, and they didn't put any Dem lawmakers to the sword. In that respect, you can be grateful that we right-wingers aren't as experienced or as adept at rioting as your lot are...
Ray, I agree in one very important sense: regardless of which party is nominally in control, the power of the federal government, and the extent of federal spending, will only increase. No one, including Trump and Reagan, has come close to finding a solution to that conundrum.
Ray, I frankly don't agree that Trump was unwise to give a speech. It was in his political interest that a large, passionate demonstration occur outside the Capitol. It was NOT in his interest that some of the demonstrators would "storm" the Capitol. I don't think he saw that coming. An interesting question: did the Capitol Police allow the "mob" to penetrate the building, knowing the political uses to which such mayhem could be put? Like you said, Ray, if there was ever any doubt about the result of the vote to certify the election (there wasn't much), an angry mob sealed the deal for Biden.
Dr. Waddy et al from Jack: All of leftist inclination who condemn the Capitol Hill riot, either specifically or by snide implication ,are completely lacking in moral authority to do so .Their characteristic reticence in denouncing the 2020 insurrections confirms their purely partisan amorality.I'll have much more to ,I hope, compliment , Dr. Waddy's well taken views, presently.
ReplyDeleteDr.Waddy from Jack:. Meanwhile, for your broadcast and for history: 140 GOP reps sought an audit of the election. They are, as are their constituents, insects, to the now dominating American left. Tom Reed: I am convinced that he does what he has to do to advance the views for which he has demonstrated allegiance to his mostly conservative constituents here in the real America territories of occupied NY state. He has shown political skills which have already afforded him much power in the national legislature. He has repeatedly and decisively defeated the impassioned campaigns based in the atypical and presumptuous nexus of socialist Ithaca, (home of an Ivy League "University") to displace him! Consider Lincoln's well considered and self effacing efforts to acquire the power to advance his beliefs.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Jack! I posted an article today that aptly summarized all the times that leftists excused or endorsed political violence in 2020. Their morality is a species of amorality, suffice it to say.
ReplyDeleteNow, as for Reed, you are inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt and to view his recent coziness with Biden and coldness towards Trump as...tactical. I suppose it may be that. He will, though, face a primary opponent in 2022, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go down in flames. The fact is: it's one thing to deny Trump your full support. It's another to vote to confirm the results of a deeply flawed and untrustworthy election. Reed is on the wrong side of history, in my view. If the curtailments of free speech that we're seeing now multiply, Reed may have helped usher in the end of American democracy. Those are bad "tactics", no?
Dr.Waddy from Jack: On Tom Reed: He is at the threshold of national power and I am convinced he would exercise it, at the right time, to the benefit of the real America. His early support for Trump was principled, courageous and perhaps prescient. He could be the future of our movement, as he has shown much political acumen.Your comments on him are very plausible but I think he did what he had to do to be of ongoing service to us. President Trump did us a SIGNAL, courageous and self effacing (I'm the same age as he is and it's hard, hard to endure that stress at that time in your life! You just don't have that much further to go!) GOOD in transforming the Federal judiciary in a way which will keep us afloat through the imminent ordeal. And he has set a fearless example of real American intolerance of the leftist horde. Consider though, not only Lincoln but Washington 1776-1778 especially, where he exercised strategic retreat to great advantage. It's bitter, I know, but it may be the most prudent tactic now. Not craven Rino surrender, no. But, well conceived temporary tactical withdrawal. Were we facing overwhelming leftist domination,it would be the time for final resolution. But not yet. They have not Scotus; they have not the legislative branch by other than tenuous bonds.
ReplyDeleteThat's true enough, Jack -- we still have cards to play, some of them thanks to President Trump. And I'm not against the occasional "strategic retreat" either. I'm just not sure what it avails a Republican to condemn Trump or to vote to certify Biden's win. Do you really think that, if Reed ran for Governor or President, the press would treat him with mildness or consideration? I sure don't! The leftist hate machine would crank up to maximum power in no time. Everyone has condemned the rioters, but Trump's qualms about the election were LEGITIMATE before, during, and after those riots. That's a simple fact. Reed doesn't seem to be aware of that fact.
ReplyDeleteDr.Waddy from Jack: Your remarks have much merit and have given me reason to pause. . . True,he has not yet attracted the basilisk gaze of the vicious and presumptuous left and would, assuredly, should he be perceived by them as an impediment to their already begun campaign of suppression of all opposition
ReplyDeleteto their unfettered exercise of their arbitrary will.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I have seen him many times handling the patronizing treatment afforded all who doubt them by leftists. One of them accused him during a debate of"throwing a tantrum"and in his graceful refusal to honor this all to be expected ,reflexive cheap shot made her look like the fool she was. And he beat her handily in the election.
ReplyDeleteDr.Waddy from Jack: His abandonment of support for the President's justified refusal to accept a stolen election is a highly questionable action, I must agree, as much as I like him.
ReplyDeletePence's abandonment? Oh, you mean following the law.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: A recent commentator suggested that the bitter polarization (caused, I am long since convinced ,by the totalitarian intentions and methods of the American left)in our culture and our polity may presage a perhaps eventually transformative realignment uniting Democrats who recognize the existential threat to America plainly presented by their party's left and Republicans who see,in the compromise made consequently necessary, our best chance to defeat the radical horde. Joe Manchin and or Tom Reed could lead such a movement, I think. The left MUST be defeated or we lose all we value. I'd settle for a half a loaf if it serves that vital end!
ReplyDeleteDr.Waddy et al from Jack: No, I was speaking of Tom Reed.
ReplyDeleteJack, you're right of course that any sane person would be happy to accept a President Reed, or a President Manchin, or a President Pence, or a President Romney, in preference to rule by left-wing extremists. Truth be told, a "President" Biden isn't the end of the world. It's the people around him, and the infernal judges he'll appoint, who will probably do more damage. Anyway, I don't disagree that someday we may see an alignment of conservatives, moderate Republicans, independents, and even some level-headed Dems, inspired by some basic principles like fiscal responsibility and the defense of free speech. All that would require is the Dems overplaying their hand. I'd say that's an inevitability.
