Good News: Nigel Has Regained His Senses

Friends, breaking news out of the U.K. increases the chances of both a Conservative victory and of Brexit: Nigel Farage's Brexit Party will not oppose the Conservatives in 317 constituencies.  It isn't quite an "alliance," but it will be a big boost to the Tories all the same.

  2. Yes, some reciprocation would be nice -- the Conservatives could withdraw a handful of candidates of their own. I would love to see the Brexit Party win a few seats.

  4. Dr. Waddy and Linda: That commentator who said the Conservatives still have to take seats from Labor had a good point but if the Brexit party takes seats from Labor could we not now reasonably expect their cooperation with the Tories, at least on Brexit? Wow, chances for Brexit looking good now! Rule Britannia!

  5. I agree, Jack: all signs point to victory! To answer your question, Brexit MPs would cooperate with Conservatives on most points, yes, but it will be hard for either the Brexit Party or the Conservatives to win any seats from Labour if they're splitting the Leave vote. My take: the Brexit Party seems to be talking itself into irrelevance. Its polling numbers may be headed to the vanishing point. That's probably for the best, unless the Conservatives really do step aside in some constituencies and give the Brexit people a straight shot at a few victories.
