Its really God's country there. My wife accomodated my wishes in living where we do live (and aside from the state politics, its great) and we love our house. I cannot ask a move now of her; she doesn't share my views and I must respect that. Dr. Waddy: I do appreciate the irony of your comments though! Get woke, man! At least get your good lady wife a second husband. Wouldn't that be deliciously unconventional? Plus, variety is the spice of life!

Linda, as far as I can tell, pretty much the whole South is ungodly hot in summertime. Either you can live with it, or you can't... I really think you should consider WV very strongly, therefore. The elevation cuts the heat down considerably.Nicholas Waddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14650770835328089297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8511148187940933062.post-54177223956241032552020-05-12T16:14:42.093-04:002020-05-12T16:14:42.093-04:00Dr. Waddy et al: I must stay here, for reasons I h...Dr. Waddy et al: I must stay here, for reasons I have already expressed. My folks have been in FL for nearly 50 years and my dad even says the hurricanes are getting to be much for them to handle. We shall see where the Conley family will end up. grinLindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16466115918585699329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8511148187940933062.post-11279522003670118672020-05-11T23:19:37.425-04:002020-05-11T23:19:37.425-04:00Thanks, all! Take that, Mother Earth!

Ray, I'll have to check out "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot". I'm a big Clint Eastwood fan, and in those days he was in his prime! I must admit, I like big American cars, but in the early 70s I think they got too big even for me.

Go West? Tempting. A lot of the West has been trending blue, though. There are still those solidly red Mountain States, but it gets chilly in the Rockies! Brrrr.

I think Linda is on to something with TN and WV. Those are two of the most solidly conservative states you'll find these days. She'll get her four seasons too, although not nearly as much snow as she's used to. I checked out Chattanooga a few years back. It has a lot going for it, and I even survived a summer day of around 95 degrees. Personally, though, I want to move somewhere where winter is UNTHINKABLE. All signs point to Florida? South Carolina, the Gulf States, or Arizona/New Mexico might do the trick. Texas has never appealed to me, and I'm afraid it really could go blue in the not too distant future -- at which point the whole country will become thoroughly Mexified, but what can you do? Mexico ain't so bad.Nicholas Waddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14650770835328089297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8511148187940933062.post-13211535302159148432020-05-11T19:58:43.541-04:002020-05-11T19:58:43.541-04:00Congratulations and good luck on your job hunt. I can tell you that rents (apartments) and real estate (homes) are certainly affordable down South. Of course I know NOTHING as to how the Corona Virus situation has affected The South, generally speaking. Also don't know much about politics down South. No matter what, got to have a job. Stay away from Virginia, it's very Democrat! Love the new ride, truly I do.

End of the semester is indeed here. No commencement as you know, however, the History Chair person will read our names at 1 pm on Zoom, there were only 40 of us who made it through. NOW, If only NY state would open up, I really need a job to pay off the massive debt, lol.

P.S. Heading south is a real possibility, thinking WV or TN. Have to find a job first, grin.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16466115918585699329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8511148187940933062.post-11278809078433473722020-05-11T13:43:34.553-04:002020-05-11T13:43:34.553-04:00Congratulations on your "old, new car"! ...Congratulations on your "old, new car"! This all goes to prove that your are suffering from Academic PTSD, and that you really want to be a yuppie. NO OFFENSE! Anyway, a Cadillac that old always reminds me of one of my favorite Clint Eastwood Movies, "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" (1973) with a young Jeff Bridges also starring. In the last scene, Eastwood is driving a 1973 Cadillac Eldorado convertible. So, I recommend that you get another job in a Republican Western State and drive there in your new ride. Think about it. "Go West Young Man!"
